Baga Beach

Located 10 kilometers to the west of Mapusa along the west coast of Goa by the Arabian Sea, the Baga Beach is part of a 30 km stretch of beach coastline. Situated between the two famous beaches of Anjuna and Calangute, this small but wonderful beach is in essence, an extension of Calangute beach.

One of the finest beaches in Goa, Baga beach begins at Fort Aguada, extends initially as Sinquerim beach, thereafter as Candolim Beach and unites into Calangute beach and then continues as Baga beach. Hereafter, the beach extends as Anjuna Beach and then as Vagator Beach, finally ending at Chapora Beach and Fort.

One of the most sought after destinations for beach lovers, Baga beach in Goa flaunts a quiet atmosphere and an idyllic locale, besides an overwhelming scenic beauty that is well augmented by the creek, the Retreat House set atop the hill and the unexplored charm of the surroundings. Tourists flock to the Baga beach in huge numbers as it serves as a wonderful base for water sports and fishing in the region.

Baga Beach market

A visit to Baga will not be complete unless you shop at the Baga beach market which is held every Saturday evening. Here you can shop for a wide range of commodities from fish, meat, groceries, textiles, earthenware, household articles and other items.

The market also puts on sale numerous kinds of bric-a-brac, toys and trinkets, exotic delicacies and irresistible Goan cuisine.

The place is made even more enjoyable with the live bands playing regularly creating a festive ambience in the market. But, a piece of advice for all visitors - please bargain hard because competitive bargaining can lead to some very good deals.

Eating Out At Baga Beach

The Baga beach area flaunts the finest range of restaurants in Goa, from the beach front shacks to swish pizzerias restaurants where you can savor anything and everything from continental delicacies to tempting seafood.
